NW Trek and Family Fun in NW Washington
Disclaimer – We received tickets to NW Trek in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.
For the first time as a family of four, and after reading every piece of advice we could find on sites like campingfunzone.com, we headed out camping. Two nights in a tent a million memories later, it’s safe to say, that won’t be our last camping trip! Our car was packed up with all of our camping gear, like the camping sleeping pad you might see people use to get a good night’s sleep, and our Palitaly travel stroller, that fit perfectly in our packed trunk!
The first day, we headed up to NW Trek in Eatonville WA.
NW Trek, is such a fun place for kids. The Zoo feels like you are actually out in the woods, and the animals are living in an actual forest. There are so many neat animals to see!
The Tram is an hour long ride and narrated by a naturalist. You’ll see Bison, Elk, Deer and so much more! Graydon had so much fun seeing the different animals along the ride.
At the end we spent some time playing at the Kid’s Trek park. This park is inspired by nature and has so many different things to keep the kids busy. Graydon loved climbing, going down the different slides and discovering each part of this park.
After the zoo we drove 20 minutes north to Graham WA, and spent our first night camping by the lake. We built a fire, cooked our dinner and made SMORES. The boys had a blast playing and hanging out at the lake! I love that they managed to have outdoor fun, rather than being couped up in the house all the time. So I really do suggest that anyone thinking of going on vacation with their family at some point, should really look at camping and enjoying the outdoors!
The next day we drove west to Dash Point where we set up camp near the puget sound. We walked to the sound and enjoyed time on the beach. Our campsite was full of blackberries and bunny rabbits. Setting up our tent took some time though – a friend got one from survival-cooking.com and said it was a cinch to set up, so it may be time for a change- but otherwise it was lovely.
After two nights of camping we were ready to be home! We packed up camp, made a pit stop at Cabelas and ate at one of our favorite restaurants in Central – La Tarasca!
