A Southern California Road Trip with the Toyota 4Runner

Thank you Toyota for providing us with the 4Runner for our Southern California Road Trip.

We just got back from our week long Southern California Road Trip and we had so much fun. Our trip began in San Diego, where we flew in and picked up our Toyota 4Runner. With two little ones, car seats, and luggage, it was so nice to have all of the extra space in the 4Runner.

The Toyota 4Runner

The Toyota 4Runner had more than enough space, it was incredibly comfortable and made our road trip driving as smooth as possible. While road tripping, it’s so important for the extra space and comfort. The boys car seats fit in so nicely with plenty of extra space. The trunk was large enough to fit our stroller and all the luggage, plus all the extras we purchased along the way.

I loved the interior, how smooth the drive was and how safe I felt driving through California!

What I packed…

Packing for a week long road trip with kids can be a challenge. Here are some of my must haves…

EZ Packing Cubes

These packing cubes helped me stay organized throughout the entire trip. Packing for myself and two kids isn’t easy, but these are so helpful!

Rohm Marpac Travel Sound Machine

This sound machine is a lifesaver for travel. Hotels aren’t always quiet, or ideal for sleep, but this little machine blocks out almost all of the sounds.

One Culture Foods

These Cups of noodles are made with bone broth and other delicious ingredients. They are so easy to make in hotel rooms, and my boys love them! It’s always nice having simple snacks and meals while on the road!

Swimsuits For All

For adorable beach style and always feeling confident in your skin, Swimsuits for All has you covered! I love how their swimsuit fit, even while I’m gaining weight through this pregnancy.

Coola Sunscreen

Coola Sunscreen is made with amazing ingredients. I love that they have a skin healthy line for myself and my kids!

SwimZip

I don’t travel without SwimZip! Even though we have sunscreen, there is less I have to worry about with SwimZip covering them up. The UPF 50+ proof material protects the boys while they spend the day at the beach!

Stop 1: Carlsbad, CA

From San Diego, we drove over to Carlsbad, CA for a few nights. While in Carlsbad we spent time at their beautiful beaches, and of course LEGOLAND.

Stop 2: Palm Springs

Our next stop was  Palm Springs, where the weather was a scorching 115 degrees. Luckily, we had quite a few fun adventures planned, as well as a nice swimming pool at the hotel.

Find all the information you need to plan your trip to Palm Springs here.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

The Aerial Tramway is the perfect way to spend a hot day. As the Tram makes it’s way up over two miles, it rotates, giving you a 360 view. The air conditioned Tram takes you up 8,500 ft, where the weather is always much cooler! At the top you will find restaurants with a view and some great hikes in the San Jacinto Mountains National Monument.

The Living Desert Zoo

A great choice for cooler weather, but still fun any time of year is the Living Desert Zoo. There are some great animals to see, the gardens are beautiful, and a neat model train display. If it’s hot, make sure you get there early to beat the heat!

Palm Springs Air Museum

The Palm Springs Air Museum is a must, especially on hot days. There are four different rooms filled with different airplanes. There is so much history and so much to learn. The boys absolutely loved it here!

Stop 3: Encinitas

Encinitas is by far one of my favorite places in Southern California! The beaches are beautiful, the weather is always amazing, and I love their downtown Main Street area!

We spent out time here at the beach and relaxing for the last few days of our trip.

Stop 4: San Diego

Before we made the trek back home, we spent some time in San Diego. We spent some time at SeaWorld, ate some good food, and went to the Cabrillo National Monument.

It’s safe to say we had an amazing time on our Southern California Road Trip!
