When you think of Palm Springs, many things may come to mind. For me, I think of golfing, hot weather, sunshine, and retirement. I also think of down time and relaxing days.

Living in the PNW, we were searching for quick family vacation and some sunny weather. We also wanted this to be as affordable as possible, since it wasn’t planned for our budget.

I found super cheap flight tickets ($48 round trip from PDX) and a decent hotel that was also budget friendly.

My main goal on this quick trip was to see the sun, but more importantly, relax as a family. While visiting Palm Springs with children, I also wanted to add in some fun and excitement while we were there.

Palm Springs Living Desert Zoo

The first day, we visited the Palm Springs Living Desert Zoo. The kids had a blast! If you are visiting Palm Springs with children, the zoo is a must!

They loved seeing the Zebra’s, Big Horn Sheep and Giraffes!

The biggest hit at the zoo was the model train track. The boys were IN AWE of all of the trains, which meant I was able to take a break and feed Brinley.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is fun for everyone. In ten minutes you leave the desert and end up at the mountain, which is exciting in the winter since there is a good chance you will see SNOW!

The boys loved riding the tram and getting to throw some snowballs at the mountain. It was such a fun surprise while visiting Palm Springs!

Joshua Tree National Park

I absolutely love visiting different National Parks, so this was the part I was most excited for. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

Although we were ill prepared for the cold weather, we still had a blast. The boys climbed rocks and we had some beautiful views. I can’t wait to go back and explore some more.

Pineapple Suits // Swim Zip

We spent plenty of time at the pool and hot tub, hung out at the hotel and found good food to eat. I have to say, I couldn’t have asked for a better getaway for our first vacation as a family of FIVE!

We love Swim Zip for keeping their little bodies safe in the sun! The sun protective clothing is UPF 50+ and SO CUTE!
